A resident within the borders of Sundowner becomes a SRA member by applying for membership and paying monthly membership fees.

  • Members of the SRA Residents Association are only accepted with the approval of the Committee.
  • The committee is authorized to revoke membership at any time within reason.

WHY SHOULD YOU BECOME A MEMBER OF THE SRA?

For the achievement of the SRA objectives and efficient running of the Sundowner Residents' Association we need all residents within the borders of Sundowner to sign up as members. To enable the SRA to provide these services, the residents of Sundowner need to become proactive as a community, talk to their neighbours, become involved and maintain their contributions on a continual monthly basis.

The SRA needs to increase participation, approximately 300 out of 500 are contributing and benefiting from the Sundowner boomed area. The residents would pay a dramatically reduced levy and could receive additional benefits if all residents would contribute. The SRA do not want to think of the consequences if the association would disband due to lack of funding and support

By becoming a SRA member, you:-

  • Benefit by having boomed entrance gates with security guards provided by Piranha, a dedicated security vehicle (with Piranha and SRA markings) patrolling our streets. When suspicious persons or vehicles enter our community, the guards call the 24-hour patrol vehicle who will then escort them through the area.
  • May have a transponder installed and linked to the Resident's alarm by our security service provider Piranha. This will provide a fully armed response service at no additional cost to the homeowner, as it is included in your monthly levy. Piranha will charge you a once off fee for the transponder; this would however be incurred with any service provider that you joined if you had an armed response service. Should you discontinue your monthly payment to the SRA, Piranha will terminate this armed response service.
  • Have the right to vote at the Annual General Meeting;
  • May be elected to the Committee;
  • Live in a safe, secure and tidy neighbourhood where the value of your property is likely to increase due to the desirability of living in this neighbourhood.

WHAT ARE THE RESIDENTS ASKED TO CONTRIBUTE?

To provide ongoing security, residents are asked to contribute a monthly levy per household as follows:

  • Monthly levies are R405 for houses
  • Levies for complexes are variable at the moment. Townhouses without a drive-thru: R70 and townhouses with a drive-thru: R130
  • Levies for pensioners are R175 at present. We need a card to confirm that they are on a pension fund.

How are paying SRA Members Identified?

By a board attached to their gates. This board shows the SRA logo and the street address of the participant. The purpose of this board is to show the support of the SRA by the community and for Piranha to effectively provide assistance to paying members. These boards will remain the property of the SRA and will be removed should any household stop contributing to the SRA.
